Indy Dhial has announced his candidacy for Kelowna city council
Kelowna business owner Indy Dhial is the latest person to put his name forward for a seat on city council.
Dhial, a long-time community leader and volunteer, said his decision is rooted in a commitment to build a “stronger, more connected city where families, businesses and neighbourhoods can thrive.”
The owner of TGP Kids Early Learning Centres and president of the OKGN Apna Sports and Cultural Society said he has spent his career leading teams, operating businesses and serving the community.
“Now, I’m ready to bring that same practical, solutions-focused approach to city hall,” said Dhial.
“Kelowna needs leaders who understand the real challenges facing residents and who are prepared to work collaboratively to deliver results.”
Dhial, who finished in the middle of the pack in a crowded field in 2022 said that experience has strengthened his understanding of the issues.
“This campaign is about listening first.
“Every neighbourhood has unique challenges and opportunities.
“I want to earn the trust of residents by showing up, listening carefully and working hard every single day to represent the entire community.”
He is focusing on responsible growth, improved public safety and community well-being, increased access to childcare and family services, building a strong economy, investing in parks and recreation and building a more connected city.
Kelowna residents go to the polls to elect a new mayor and council Oct. 17.
At least four new councillors will be elected this year with the retirements of councillor Hodge, Wooldridge and Stack and the decision by Coun. Ron Cannan to run for mayor.
