ABOUT

I’ve grown up in Kelowna, BC over the past 37 years. This is home, I've learned, worked and played in this community. It has highlighted the important balance of work and play. In 2015, I married my wonder wife Mani Dhial and we have two beautiful children together.

I’ve always had the passion and drive for change in the community, with time spent in developing properties and working in our agricultural industry. Starting early on, I invested my time with local youth in our community, eventually becoming an Athletics Coach at Rutland Senior and Kelowna Men’s Soccer. A large part of my life included working at Shaw Communications for 15 years. During my time at Shaw, I worked in management as the Regional Manager for the Thompson Okanagan and BC Northern Regions. Working alongside with our community leaders, development planners and was heavily invested in seeing the growth in Kelowna and our surrounding communities. I’ve also worked closely with The Kelowna Food Bank, Okanagan Sun, Kelowna Rockets (You may have seen me on the ice with a microphone in my hands!), Okanagan College (OC), University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) and several other groups within our community.

What does being a Kelowna City Councillor mean to me?

Being a city councillor means that we are here to serve our communities. We have 4 years to make a lasting impact on our city and each member of the council will bring their vision of what the future of Kelowna could be. This is our opportunity to ensure our industries of tourism, agriculture, land development, technology and education are safeguarded for the future while continuing to thrive today.

Q & A

Most frequently asked questions about myself and what I stand for.

WHY AM I HERE?

I am here because I want my children to grow up in a community this is safe, affordable and provides equal opportunities for all. (add something like – Kelowna is home, I’ve seen many of its successes and I want to continue to give back. I want not only my children to grow up in a community that is safe, affordable and provides equal opportunities)

WHAT QUALIFIES ME TO BE A CITY COUNCILLOR?

Enter your answer to the question here. Make sure the writing is clear and concise, and helps visitors get the support they need in the most efficient way. Consider elaborating with examples or visual aids to ensure all users fully understand the information.

KEY ISSUES WE ARE RUNNING ON?

I am here to be accessible to our community and be the voice of the people who live in it. We need to create a space that allows our community to be heard when others may not listen. Safety has always been a concern, the way we interpret safety varies amongst our community. I want to focus on what our community needs such as implementing programs to reduce crime, homelessness and those close to it. Over the years, we’ve seen our aging infrastructure being pushed to its limit each year through traffic, development, and tourism. (not sure how to word this part but it needs a bridge or to be repositioned) To embrace diversity, feel safe and be able to access the wonderful amenities and opportunities the Okanagan has to offer.

WHAT AM I ADVOCATING FOR?

Ensuring the growth of our communities is being balanced by social responsibility to those that are here already. Bringing stability and meeting the needs of each community in our city whether it is young family living in the suburbs to a small business who opens their doors to the public downtown. We should live in a city where we feel safe in our parks with our children, comfortable walking down the streets in our neighbourhoods and know that each member of our society is given a chance to succeed.
